真不好意思。讓這裡荒廢了好陣子。園子缺乏打理，回來時即覺野草（Spam comments) 叢生。
開學了一段日子，折騰了一會。今年教了一班新同學，高興的是有部份同學對學英文感到熱誠。
教高中和大專算是有一段時間。有些好學但英文底子不佳的同學，往往有英文該從何學起之虞。也有不少同學問，哪些英文參考書比較實用和易於自學。
第一個問題，我的答案往往斬釘截鐵︰英文由文法學起。
我知道這個問題，不同的老師、教育者和專家有不同的看法。我無意在這裡長篇大論地闡述我的觀點。只是我認為，在香港，英文教育既然是二語教學 (ESL) 甚至是外語教學 (EFL) 的範疇，學習文法實為基本之道。
至於參考書，市面上有幾本我極力推薦，包括牛津大學和劍橋大學出版社的文法書系列。但今次我想先介紹一個很有用的網上資源。
The Internet Grammar of English

這本線上參考書名為《互聯網英語語法》 (The Internet Grammar of English，下稱 IGE )，是由英國倫敦大學學院 (University College Lodon) 英文系的學者編製，現由香港中文大學英文系的學者翻譯成簡體中文。
IGE 的好處是言簡意賅，特別適合想短時間內掌握英文文法基礎概念的人士學習。詞類 (word class)、詞組 (phrase)、從句 (clause)、詞的形態 (word forms) 等概念都有囊括。就算只有初中的程度，只須一個週末，便可以把 IGE 看完並且會通。
如果你是初階學者， IGE 應該不會令你失望。我建議你先仔細研讀 IGE，釐清英文文法的概念後，再看其他的參考書。這便能收事半功倍之效。
